The wind blows hard
The climb is slow
Shadows are dark
I stumble on these stones
But my Lord, You are near
I will not fear
[Chorus:]
I chose to take this road called faith
I will walk on
I trust that You will lead me through
I will walk on
No end in view
At times I feel alone and the signs are few
But at least they all say home,
And You my Lord,
You’re the hope I hold
Strength of my soul
[Chorus:]
Because of love
There was an awful hill You climbed
And because of love we live by faith
One step at a time
The course is set
Life’s hard but yet
We will walk on
Around each bend, until the end
We will walk on
We chose to take this road called faith
We will walk on
We trust that You will lead us through
We will walk on
We Will Walk On
We Will Walk On
[Chorus:]

Today, I went to Botanic Gardens for the first time after being in Singapore for almost 4 yrs! Was there for SPP, so didn’t really get to tour the place la… But I learnt an important lesson from there: don’t go for the greener pastures! haha.. There were 2 shelters to choose from. One had a lush crop of greenery in the centre, and the other didn’t. I went to sit at the one with the plants in the centre, thinking it would be a nicer environment, and it turned out to have lots and lots of ants!!!
Then went for cell grp. Karen mentioned that trials are meant to build us up. Also, that as living stones, we are built into one house and if 2 stones side by side don’t fit, all the more they should be put together to learn to fit together. I think that’s very applicable… but… argh…
Why do those who want, not get and those who have enough, get extra? I think a Bev is enough blessing for me already!
Then went to see Jeff off at the airport. He’s going back home to Texas. I wonder if he’s sleeping in the airplane right now. Hehe.

9th August: Singapore’s National Day.
I went to Marina Bay today, to go for a food race and watch the fireworks. Met the Fudan exchange students on the way there. Exchange students have the quality: good looking, friendly, speak english. Haha… Then met a group of Vietnamese students there too. It’s really an international mix. Then, yu han popped up from dunno where. Said he happened to see a big group of people walking so he n his friends followed. Hmm. I say it’s God’s will lar. =P
The food race was quite fun. It goes like this: Start off with the 1st dish, then find the next dish which has a name that can be linked to the 1st. E.g. !st dish: Bubur Cha cha. 2nd dish: Char siew pao…
Although I’ve been studying here for 3 yrs now, I hadn’t visited some of the places we went to eat at before! And I have never heard that some mrt stations are meant to be bomb shelters.
Then at night, we went back to the park at marina bay and sat down on groundmats to watch the fireworks. There were so many people who also watched the fireworks at the overhead bridge nearby. The fireworks were very nice! I think there were at least 2 new additions from last year’s. Not sure, can’t remember. I think my favourites are the star-shaped fireworks and the one that falls down like golden rain. Yay… so happy to have watched it.
(But sidetrack: "Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favour rests." -Luke2:13-14. I think that would have been a thousand times more spectacular than the fireworks. Haha… Can you imagine that?)

People say quiet people are good listeners. Is that so? Maybe it seems that way because we’re too quiet and can’t get a word in edgewise or think of the right thing to say. So we just give up trying. =P

Top 7 Tips To Avoid Making A Donation
7. Take another route and make one big round just to avoid the person collecting donations
6. Take out your handphone and act as if you’re having an important conversation.
5. Start to look hurried and run past the person collecting donations.
4. Turn and run in the opposite direction
3. Talk about how you’ve lost your trust in donation drives because of NKF… although you’ve probably never made any substantial donation to NKF in your entire life.
2. Stop, reach into your bag, take out your wallet… and proudly show the sticker on your wallet as proof you’ve already donated.
1. Stare curiously at the person collecting donations. Keep staring, and start asking stupid questions.
(The tips above are inspired by characters which are purely non-fictional, and any resemblance to any persons living or dead is purely intentional.)

It’s amazing how little things lead to other little things which finally lead to surprising/wonderful things!
If I didn’t talk to WH on the bus this morning, I wouldn’t have realised we’re from the same taman. And we wouldn’t have realised we have a few friends in common. And we wouldn’t have realised our moms know each other. Small small world.
If I didn’t feel a bit sick tonight, I wouldn’t have stayed in the room instead of going for orientation supper. Then I wouldn’t have remembered to contact CK. Then I wouldn’t have had the chance to chat with her on msn. Yay…

(The title is also dedicated to the suddenly-attached couple… *ahem* =P)
Today I attended Liuyan (my ex-cell group leader) and William’s wedding. Both of them have been in the church for quite a long time and are leaders. It’s always joyful and inspiring to see people like them getting married. No no, not inspiring me to get married soon also… but the God-centredness and maturity inspires me.
There were many people from Generations (youth group) there… my ex-cell members… Aih, miss them la. Suddenly I feel so old when I’m not one of them anymore. Haha… The decor was really nice also. Lots of beautiful flowers, and rose petals… and I heard the place was done up in a very short time. I don’t know how to elaborate on the whole ceremony, but I’ll just say that it was very beautiful & meaningful.
I wonder how a father feels, giving his daughter away.
I wonder how a bride feels, preparing to help and submit to the one she loves for the rest of their lives.
I wonder how a groom feels, preparing for the responsibility to lead a household built together with his beloved.

Today is the 2nd day of training for matric fair (matriculation fair, where the freshmen will be introduced to the different clubs and societies in NUS). It’s been an exciting 2 days… I’m sure it’ll be an exciting week!
This afternoon, Lee Tat was speaking about sharing the gospel. Using TF as a demonstration, he explained a method to us. And right there in front, our “demo”, TF, sincerely accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour! The rest of us were like, “real one or acting only?…” Woohoo! Welcome to the family, TF!
And then, after the demo, Lee Tat suddenly asked us to pair up and go find someone to share with on campus! Whoa, I think we were all caught by surprise lor… So, I went with Julia and today I had my first “cold turkey evangelism” (otherwise known as street-evangelism) experience! Aiii… so scary at first, How am I supposed to approach a total stranger? In the end, we talked to a PRC guy, LJ. It’s his 1st time hearing this and, praise God, he was very willing to listen. Yay! Haha… I think I was too nervous and forgot some things. But oh well, first time what… And I think, it’s exciting!!! =)

stands for freshmen orientation camp (pharmacy), which I just came back from today. Now I’m chao-ta from the sentosa sun! It’s been quite a fun camp, although still cannot quite compare to hall orientation. Ha, but of course it was fun la, since I’m a station master giving the campers the tasks to do and then just watching them play. =P Too bad that I’m not "hyper" enough to entertain them and keep their spirits up. So sad, I have absolutely no control over the atmosphere. I wonder if this is a skill which can be learnt….
Unexpectedly, I enjoyed the last night the most. I was super sian at first, at the thought that I won’t be able to sleep, plus I neither drink nor dance. Luckily, neither did many others! =) In the end, it turned out to be an opportunity to get to know some of the incoming freshies a bit better.
The holidays are really coming to an end very soon! I don’t have much time to be at home anymore. But then again, why not? I study just right across the causeway, and some ppl who study in KL come back more often than me! I think, I can come back more often next time. At least once a month la… Anyway, I don’t think it should matter that much anymore whether or not I stay back during the weekends.
